Congratulations to Lauren Williams, the winner of the April FasMart Grand Slam Kid scholarship!

15 year old Lauren is a Ninth grader at Freeman High School involved in the Center for Leadership, Government and Global Economics. Lauren excels academically, having graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at Moody Middle School and currently maintains a 4.5 GPA at Douglas Freeman High School. She is a member of the Junior Beta Club, has received the Award of Honor from the Virginia Academy of Science and the President’s Award for Educational Excellence.

As an athlete she participates in both soccer and basketball. She has played for the Richmond Kickers Central travel team for ten seasons and is a member of their U15 team this spring. She also played at Moody Middle School for three years and was a member of the Freeman JV team as a starting mid-fielder. In basketball she was the starting point guard for the Freeman JV squad.

In the community Lauren is involved in Girl Scouting, the YMCA Bright Beginnings program, and her church. As a result of her commitment to working with YMCA youth and families, Lauren was named the Tuckahoe Family YMCA Youth Volunteer of the Year for 2007. At Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church she participates in a variety of community and civic projects with her youth group. As a scout she has earned her Bronze and Silver Awards and is working toward her Gold Award which is the highest honor that can be bestowed by the Girls Scouts.

As the first monthly “FasMart Grand Slam Kid” winner for this year, Lauren earns a $500 scholarship administered by the VA 529 College Savings Plan and will be eligible to win the end of the year award of an additional $2500 scholarship. She will be honored in pre-game ceremonies prior to the Braves-Indianapolis game on Wednesday May 7th. This is the second year of the “Grand Slam Kid” program sponsored by FasMart, the VA 529 College Savings Plan, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, and the Richmond Braves.

Fas Mart Convenience Stores to Donate $60,000 to Local Richmond Charities

HomeAgain and Childhelp Receive Contributions

RICHMOND, February 1, 2008 - GPM Investments, LLC, which operates the Fas Mart convenience stores announced today that it will donate $60,000 raised from its 8th Annual Golf Outing and Auction held last fall to two local charities, HomeAgain and ChildHelp.

Fas Mart Charity Donation Dave McComas, chief executive officer of Fas Mart, will present the checks to the organizations on Friday, February 15th at 10:00 a.m. at Fas Mart Store 14, 10300 Sliding Hill Road, Ashland, Va. 23005.

Fas Mart will donate $40,000 to HomeAgain, a local organization that assists homeless families and individuals by providing emergency and transitional shelter. The group provides 150 beds and related support services to homeless men, women and children each year, as well as programs designed to build skills necessary for them to return to permanent housing.

Fas Mart will also donate $20,000 to Childhelp, part of a national organization which works with abused and neglected children to address their emotional, educational and spiritual needs. The organization focuses its efforts on providing advocacy, prevention, treatment and community outreach.

"A core operating principle of our company has always been to actively support our local community," said McComas. "We are truly honored to support these fine organizations which do so much to make a difference in people's lives."

Fas Mart is a regional convenience store chain with 205 company operated locations. Last year, Fas Mart donated an additional $135,000 to various local charities, bringing its total contribution to $195,000.








2007 Home Again Christmas Charity

Thank you again to everyone who gave this year to the HomeAgain Charity Drive. With GPM's generous matching of funds raised - we had just under $3,000 that was split evenly between 3 families in need.

A special thank you to our shoppers, Sue Koski, Sharon Trow, Meghan Taggart, Margie Fisher, and Susan Zogorean! They had a lot of fun shopping and were able to pick out some great items such as clothes, CD players, Hooked on Phonics laptops, baby dolls, Bratz toys, bikes, shoes, coats, cookware, bed sheets, makeup, watches and much much more!
